This was a great comic book week! Not only did the long awaited last Stormwatch trade come out (Final Orbit), but both X-Force and JLA were released this week. The Flash is quickly taking the place of the departed Starman as the comic I look the most forward to every month. I was just e-mailing Randy Lander of The Fourth Rail fame, and he is also amazed at how good Flash has become.
Comic of the Week (For August 29, 2001): Green Arrow # 7
Kevin Smith is amazing. He manages to cut through all of the crap of any character and boil them down to their essence. He’s gotten rid of all the crap behind Olliver Queen (the Green Arrow), and boiled Hal Jordan down to his essence. I’ve been reading the Spectre for the same number of issues as I’ve been reading Green Arrow, and was more character development in this guest appearance of Green Arrow than there has been in the entire seven issues of Spectre. There’s an awesome appearance by a beloved long dead comic character, and an awesome ending to this issue.
It was just announced that Smith and Hestler will be doing a “Brave and the Bold” series after they wind up the first 12 issues of Green Arrow, all I’ve got to say is “Count me in!”.
