Comics, every kid's best friend
I finished the ridonkulously long list of titles that needed to get updated to All New Comics very late this month.
After I’m done updating I go through and see what I actually want to add to my list. My list, which I keep online here at RadicalHive, has recently been cut to the quick (I just don’t have enough space in my house anymore to buy tons of stuff).
Secret Six – 2.99
A new series from the team of Gail Simone and Nicola Scott. This will be a terrific book, the two mini-series were awesome, and this is sure to be great too. One of my favourite pieces of original art I own is the “Catman’s Pride” sequence from the first mini by Dale Eaglesham.
Justice League International V3 HC – $24.99
This is a collection of the awesome Kevin Maguire / Keith Giffen series from the 90’s. I’ve got the first couple of hardcovers right now and I love them.
PVP Awesomology Deluxe HC – $99.99
This is a tough one, it was a choice between this and the 4th volume of Sandman. I chose this because it will likely have a limited print run, and I’ll be able to get Sandman next month or so.
Heroes V2 HC – $29.99
The first hardcover was awesome, and it really shed some light on backstories from the first season.
Watching the Watchmen – $49.99
2009 will be the year of the Watchmen, and this is a series that holds up incredibly well. I love reading the “behind the scenes” stories about classics like this.
Clive Barker’s Mister B Gone -$13.95
This looks like a great book. It’s the memoir of a devil, written in the first person.
Neil Gaiman The Graveyard Book HC – $17.99
Neil Gaiman’s latest book looks interesting, and it’s part of my new plan to read more fiction.
That’s a lot of stuff (though to be fair the two books at the end I would have bought from Amazon or Chapters anyway.
Then there’s the stuff I want…but that I can’t justify
Camelot 3000 HC – $34.99
The Brian Bolland classic. I sold my TPB a few years ago, and the truth is I don’t REALLY miss it…I kind of want this now though. I’ll wait a few months though.
Jack Kirby’s The Demon Omnibus HC – $49.99
I bought the first Kirby Fourth World Omnibus, and it’s brilliant. I don’t remember much about the Kirby Demon stuff, but I’m interested.
Joker HC – $19.99
This looks interesting, but after the Lex Luthor mini-series, I’m going to wait and see
The Absolute Sandman V4 – $99.00
The fourth and final Absolute is out. I have the other three and will eventually get this one too, just not this month.
