The Digital Comics List – February 2013

Digital ComicsIt’s been about three months since I posted my last “Digital Comics List”, and quite a few things have changed.

First up, Marvel Now has swept across the Marvel Universe, and with it a ton of really great Marvel comics.  You’ve got Bendis on All New X-Men, Hickman on Avengers, Jason Aaron on Wolverine and the X-Men, Frank Cho on Savage Wolverine, and of course Dan Slott’s Superior Spider-Man.

On top of that there’s Deathmatch, which is sort of a “What if everyone fought everyone”, pitting a bunch of superhero archetypes against each other.  The first issue was only .99, which made it really appealing.

What I’m trying – this is new titles I’m trying (stuff I didn’t buy since last time):

  • All New X-Men
  • Avengers
  • Deathmatch
  • New Avengers
  • Superior Spider-Man
  • Savage Wolverine
  • Uncanny Avengers
  • Uncanny X-Men

I’ve tried to wait on a bunch of stuff, in order to save $1.00 per title digitally, but there are a few books I simply can’t wait for.  Edison Rex and Lookouts are digital exclusives, so they come out at a .99 price point, which is great.  Batman has been amazing because of Death of the Family, and I’ve had to buy it in order to keep from being spoiled.  With Death of the Family over though, I’ll probably go back to waiting a month.  Green Lantern has been my favourite comic for over five years now, but with Geoff Johns moving on, it’s probably time for me to drop it back a month too.  Saga and Walking Dead are just too good.  I could wait a month most likely, but I’m really impatient for that first month gap, and so far it’s been worth the extra dollar.

What I buy when it comes out:

  • Batman
  • Edison Rex
  • Green Lantern
  • Lookouts
  • Saga
  • The Walking Dead
  • Wolverine and the X-Men

This is my first month of waiting for America’s Got Powers, and it’s going to be tough.  The Bat Titles have likewise been tough with Death of the Family.  Aquaman and Justice League are currently crossing over, and I’m waiting on the new Justice League America.

What I wait on for one month (to save $1.00 on the digital download):

  • America’s Got Powers
  • Aquaman
  • Batman and Robin
  • Earth 2
  • Glory
  • Happy
  • Justice League
  • Justice League of America
  • Manhattan Projects
  • Red Hood and the Outlaws
  • Revival
  • Teen Titans

I just dropped a few titles to make way for a few Marvel books, Rotworld got to be too much, so I dropped both Swamp Thing and Animal Man (though I’ll catch up on them if they go on sale).  Red Hood and Titans just aren’t doing it for me anymore, so I’m dropping them too.

What I’ve dropped:

  • Animal Man
  • Red Hood and the Outlaws
  • Swamp Thing
  • Teen Titans
