Ryan, the home improvement expert came over this weekend and helped me build what can only be described as “The behemoth”. It’s nearly 10 feet tall. It’s the finest in engineered maples and MDF, and it will either change our lives for the better, or be the end of us (at this point I don’t know which is the worse fate).

This is the part I’m at right now. I have the “bones” assembled. There are three lower cabinets, and three upper shelving units.

The upper units are 12″ deep, and 84″ high. They have two fixed shelves each. There will also be a maximum of 4 adjustable shelves in each. The lower units are 20″ deep, and have one adjustable 16″ shelf, plus doors on the front of each of the 3 units.

All that’s left is the other half of the job, namely doing the trim, making the doors, cutting all of the shelves, drilling the holes for the adjustable shelves, priming, filling nail holes, sanding, priming again, painting, and sealing.

Not much at all. This time next year I should be able to put books on my shelves.
